Me vs. cookery
I have this uncanny ability to include explosions in any cooking-related activity. Today, corn-on-the-cob. While it was raw.

See, I peeled the damn things, remembering afterward why it was always only ever done outside when I was growing up; bits of husk and silk everywhere. Then I tried fitting a cob in the pot, and it was too big. "No problem," I says to myself, in my cleverest tone of voice. "I'll just snap it in half!" This is of course where the explosion comes in.

I don't know the escape velocity of a kernel of corn, but so far I've found kernels in two different rooms, over ten feet from where I did the actual cob snapping. On top of that apparently I've gotten corn silk on the burner, because now the apartment smells like an over-heated hair dryer.

But I will have corn, dammit!!!

Fraternal icon twin! LOL

The idea that the exploding corn made it into two different rooms makes me giggly. :D

Admittedly it's a rather open kitchen plan and very small, so it's not like the corn had to penetrate walls. :-)

you are entirely composed of sheer awesome, aren't you? I mean seriously, who else could splort corn into 2 additional rooms (or maybe more) just by snapping a cob? :D

I can think of many more useful unique skills I'd prefer to have over the ability to achieve wide-ranging random corn fragment distribution wih my bare hands.

Uhm... this time I have to admit that I too tend to break the too-long corns with my hands. It is kinda messy, right, but I have no clue how you managed to get the kernels to fligh THAT wide.
Perhaps you should start doing this in front of an audience and charge a few dollars. You seem to have quite a talent for action/adventure-cooking XD

I have no idea either. Maybe I had the wrong angle or something.

Next time, try stuffing the corn that you are about to explode inside a pillow-coating (what is it really called in english?) or laundry-bag :)

Pillowcase, I believe? That's a good idea, and a grocery bag would work too, I'll have to do that when I cook the rest up. :-)

Ha! Just last week, I managed to make freshly-picked corn-on-the-cob from a friend's garden completely inedible (I ate it anyway, feeling guilty and wasteful otherwise). I thought 'hey, haven't had roasted corn in a long time! And this is so fresh! I'll just put it directly on the grill, and it will be just like a BBQ!'

Hint: it wasn't.

If I could afford pizza, I would. This week I got a DVD instead, which at least lasts longer. :-D

If you could harnass this explosive talent..I am not sure what field it would be useful in, but still..lol I also have aquired Under the Red Hood:) And music..mmm new music.

I can think of several uses for the ability to make entirely unexplosive objects explode, however, I think a lack of harness is the root of many of my problems. :-P
