SPN Fanfic: Quick Missing Scene Drabble for 3.08, (title under cut)

Are You Smarter Than a Fourth Grader? or Sammy Winchester Ain't Indiana Jones.

Timeline: 1991 - During flashback scenes in "A Very Supernatural Christmas"

John reached into his coat for the familiar comforting bulk of his journal and realized something was wrong. Horribly wrong. The cover didn't feel like leather, and the sides didn't flex in when he grabbed it. He pulled out what was where his journal should have been.

MathQuest 4?

John looked up at the demon-possessed man staring pissily at him from inside the restraining circle.

"Uh, looks like I'm fresh out of exorcisms." He held up the textbook and grinned gamely. "How's about some long division instead?"

lol, cute. It's a bummer JDM is so busy because you can tell everyone really loves working with him. I know I heard he was supposed to be in WiaWSNB, but they had to change the script due to scheduling problems.

I was so hoping that they'd got him for a day for the episode and managed to keep it entirely under wraps. Ah well. He's a busy boy these days! :-)

Ugh, that would have been the ultimate coup. Regardless of the writer's strike I just hope they can get him for at least one episode this season. He's so dreamy, lol

I'm quite thrilled with how much his career has taken off. I think it takes him right out of Supernatural's reach, unfortunately, but I'm actually looking forward to seeing the movies he's in and I don't do romantic comedies, like, at all. :-) If he did a cameo in a flashback or something in some future episode, that would be truly awesome. :-)

LOL! I imagine John would be incredibly pissed when he got back...
caffienekitty From: [info]caffienekitty Date: December 15th, 2007 01:42 am (UTC) (Link)
Oh yeah. It would be epic.
spndpfrdcrck From: [info]spndpfrdcrck Date: December 15th, 2007 02:21 am (UTC) (Link)
And then of course he would find out that Sam read it...oh yeah, that would not turn out well

Unless Dean figured out some way to deflect the heat or make it look like an honest mistake. Which... um yeah. They're screwed.
spndpfrdcrck From: [info]spndpfrdcrck Date: December 15th, 2007 03:00 am (UTC) (Link)
Then again it's really John's fault for not telling Sam about everything in the first place.
caffienekitty From: [info]caffienekitty Date: December 15th, 2007 03:36 am (UTC) (Link)
Yeah, but then it's the YED's fault for messing with the Winchesters in the first place. So we can blame it all on the demons!

Somehow though, I don't think John'd buy that after trying to exorcise a demon with a fourth grade math text.

You would think they'd have those things memorized by now.

Yeah... but... *points to Dean in Sin City* Not so much. John and Dean seem to be more focussed on guns and physical stuff and depending on the reference material being there for the ritual/research stuff.

I can remember parts of it because of the little audio project I did way back last year sometime. "Ragna terre, cantatae deo, solite domino, prefertu super chelum chelae, av oriento *mumble something something* satanica protestas..." I remember the satanica protestas bit because I always translate it in my head into 'no matter how much Satan bitches about it.' :-D

Lol. One of these days when I'm bored enough I will attempt to memorize it...today's looking good cuz studying for finals is a bitch. I should probably take some Latin first.....

I love it! Sammy's math book. I can just see John's face. Thanks for this - it was a smiley start to the day.

I'm thinking some demons might find long division scary enough to leave without an exorcism *nods*

(I tried to write a comment on your episode review, but LJ wouldn't let me last night and ate it three times. I can't remember what I was going to say now, but the first attempt was three paragraphs and very frustrating to lose. The comment system appears to be working now, so I'll go try again before I have to get to work :-P)

hey, i found you're stories on ffnet and i'm slowly reading through them, great stuff. I friended you cause I'm too dense to figure out how to just put a site on watch or whatever it's called.

Rat.

hehe... love the idea of John pulling out the math book. I just wonder what the fallout would be once he gets back to the kids.
