Contains profanity and speculation.

Spoiler and Spec Summary

Nothing.

No wait. Castiel's back (yay! Maybe we'll get something on the Civil War in Heaven) and Meg's back (yay! Maybe she'll be all vengeancey about Lucifer and stuff) and apparently the two of them hook up or kiss or something.

...Wait what?

Politics makes strange bedfellows I guess? *headscratch*

Picspam Reaction, with speculation and randomness for Supernatural 6.10 - Caged Heat

This whole live reaction thing is so addictive I'm doing it again! Yay...

Actually no, I have no idea what all happened; there was a minor explosion involving a lamp and an entire stand-up routine of errors and long story not-so-long the episode was halfway over by the time I got back to the point I could turn on the TV, so I waited for the VCR to finish and the tape was garbled beyond hope. FARG!

So. It's another live-ish reaction post. I trust you are as thrilled as I am.

-Must admit, entirely skipping the THEN is a handy feature.

-Crowley's in chains and beat up! Woo! I mean, um. There's badass plot things happening obviously. Yay!
Photo 1

-And there's two Crowleys. Hm. He's got a lot of things going on, maybe he fissioned for work purposes? Or can Shapeshifters do demons? I should just watch, right?
Photo 2

-Ah, yeah, it's the Shifter!Alpha. A one week hiatus and I forget everything. Of course he can't map where Purgatory is. Maybe.

-"Iridium." Oooo! Nifty! New thingy! Iridium is related to platinum and really hard to work with, but as King of Hell, Crowley's probably got a few effective smelters that could make it workable. Very cool. And he's made a knife of it. New magic item tool for the boys to collect!
Photo 3

-And just in case we forgot Crowley's evil, he's threatening a nursery full of shifter!babies. Subtlety is for mortals.
Photo 4

-"Kill 'em all. We'll make more." Yeah, we're all balls-to-the-wall evil in this here torture pit.

-And no more shifter!Alpha. Wonder what that does to the rest of the Shifters, whether there's a trickle-down effect?

-I don't know whether it's the headphones or what, but there's a whispering after the glass-burst title card that seems to be getting louder/longer with each episode. Probably just my misperception, but it'd be neat if they pulled some kind of ongoing alteration like that, changing a little with each episode.

-"Caged Heat." *googles* Um. Apparently also a 1974 Roger Corman movie which is likely not going to relate to tonight's episode at all unless there's a women's prison and an X-rating. O.o

-I like this demon. There aren't nearly enough snarky demons running around on this show.
Photo 5

-Sam's disappeared! Either he's off securing an intruder or he's been snatched. We haven't had a good Sam-napping in ages! \o/

-Teleplay by Brett Matthews, Story by Jenny Klein and Brett Matthews, Directed by Robert Singer. So, group writing to some extent and a veteran director. I'm thinking big things are going to go down in this episode.

-...or Sam's been knocked out, very quietly. Interesting choice of angle here. Yet another 'Hanged Man' kind of position (in which case Sam would be inverted, and I have no idea what any of that means) but the camera angle is such that Sam is foreshortened, and appears smaller and therefore subliminally a teeny bit more vulnerable.
Photo 6

-*while still paused, does a bit of season math* ...is this one going to be a cliffhanger? Or a lead-up to the winter hiatus cliffhanger? Oh dear. I think I'm going to need to cut down on pause button use.

-*sigh* Dean. When wandering into a room where your brother is laying unconscious, check behind you. That year of normal really did mess you up.

-Show still needs a bondage effective restraints consultant I see.
Photo 7

-"Evil bitch." HI MEG!!! \o/
Photo 8

-*grins a lot at the Q & A* I really do like Meg. I like flirty over the top evil, what can I say?

-"She's scared." And again, Soulless!Sam being Sherlock. Like, scarily Sherlock. O.O Of course, if a demon is looking for the self-proclaimed King of Hell in a non-sucking-up sort of way, it's a safe bet she's not on any kind of officially sanctioned mission.
Photo 9

-"Work with us."/"Whoa. What?" Dean's stun check face makes me giggle.
Photo 10

-"I apprenticed under Alastair in Hell just like your brother." OH REALLY??? That's interesting... I have no idea what to make of it right now, but I find that very interesting. Bears more thinking at some point in time.

-"Hugs and puppies all around!" I really, really like Meg. I always have. She's just so... Joyful Evil. :-D
Photo 11

-Okay, seriously, look at how Dean's tied to that chair. All he has to do is stand up and shrug. Their legs should be tied to the chair legs, and their hands should be tied too, possibly with a rope going under the seat. Or better yet, skip the rope concept all together and use duct tape. Ankles, thighs and around the chest at the elbows. Those three chest ropes are doing exactly nothing.
Photo 12

-"She killed Ellen and Jo." Excellent point, and I'm glad it's not being forgotten. Still it really is logical and the best chance they seem to have, enemy of my enemy and all. Though Meg could flip and hook up with Crowley if Crowley'd trust her not to turn around and stab him in the back. Yay, plot! *wriggles with glee*

-"We're bringing insurance." What happened to the Colt anyway? I think they've still got ... NO WAIT!! ARE THEY GOING TO FIND HER BONES??? \o/

-Nope, they're calling Castiel. But that might be a prelude to finding her bones. The pause button is a menace to my thought processes, seriously.

-Hee! Sam praying to Castiel with his eyes closed and swinging his head back and forth is a bit silly. I wonder how being soulless effects the general ability to pray versus the ability to holler for your brother's guardian angel.
Photo 13

-"It's this gold box, apparently Nazis were after it." BWAHAHAAHAHAHA!! SERIOUSLY, INDIANA JONES? Okay, so the pause button on the first watch has it's benefits, such as pausing when Show makes me aspirate broccoli.

-"Where's the box?" And of course it works. *facepalm* Hi Castiel!!! Lack of pop culture knowledge can be hazardous to your ability to ignore dough-headed humans. Do they have Netflix in Heaven? Look into it when you're not fighting a civil war.
Photo 14

-"I'm sorry, do you think we're here to talk this out?" Soulless!Sam needs a smackdown. Sorry, but seriously. You just cried wolf to get him there, he left battle to come down, and you're ranting about how he owes you? A bit not good there, Sam. If I was Castiel, I'd've popped back into combat and Sam could suck wind.

-"If you don't help us I will hunt you down and kill you." 'Scuze me a sec, I seem to be laughing too hard to see the screen. Oh Sam. Sam Sam Sam. *headshake*

-"This is what friends do for each other." And that would be Sam's "I am 100% full of bullshit," smirk.
Photo 15

-Not looking for Meg's bones, then, looking for Crowley. And of course he's hidden from you; if there's anything at all to his claims of being King of Hell, he's jumped up a few levels beyond your paygrade, dude.

-Where are they with all the books? Are they at Bobby's? Did they break into Bobby's and are going through his library unassisted and without permission? Wow. If so they're a whole brand new kind of idjit. Oh, wait, it's just the Campbell compound. Yeah, you can bust into that anytime. *waves dismissively*

-Wait, WHAT??? Crowley's promised him Mary?
Photo 16

-Aw crap. And it's one of Dean's baseline motivations. But is he going to want Mary back if it means letting Crowley pull her back from wherever she went? Getting Crowley to help with Sam is a different thing, because Sam's soul is stuck in the cage.
Photo 17

-"You know how to live without her." Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. Ow. But true. And Ow.

-*sits and doesn't even blink for the next bit with the Campbell/Winchester epic cycle of Deals gone awry and the shouting and snarling and low-dangerous voices and the "What are you gonna tell her?" and the epic man pain and angst* Wow. Yeah. *slow clap* Dude. That was awesome.

-Castiel. Watching porn and being very confused. Oh dear.
Photo 18
Photo 19

-*hides in shirt* Oh dear indeed. Well. I guess Jimmy's still in there then? *blushes forever*

-Yay for Grandpa Sam backing the boys, especially now we know what's motivating him. Unless it's all a lie and this is a trap set up by Crowley, but naaah.
Photo 20
Photo 21

-"You boys have serious abandonment issues, you know that?" Meg. Dude. You've known them since 2005 and you're just figuring that out?

-Wait, when did Meg get Ruby's knife- Oh, never mind, she took it when she had the boys ineffectually tied to chairs. I am slow tonight.

-Only two redshirts per mission. It's a rule or something. *handwaves*

-Wow, that was some really intense background music for Sam being broody and checking a gun...
Photo 22

-"I'm not sure retrieving Sam's soul is wise." Oh really? Do tell? Is it the whole busting open the Cage again thing? Or a 'worst case of PTSD ever' thing? Or something else?
Photo 23

-"I want him to survive." Okay, Castiel's fangirliness breathy wistful hopeful tone there is interesting.

-So, Castiel is of the 'Michael and Lucifer have been beating the crap out of Sam's soul for a year, so it'll be nasty for him to have it back' camp. AKA, worst case of PTSD ever. Adam not being mentioned, I am officially adopting my head!canon that Michael cut his soul lose when he took over Adam's body. Either that or post-cage Adam is going to be the big bad if there's a season 7.

-Crap. Of course Sam heard all that. You guys are really not doing much for making Sam actually want to get his soul back are you?
Photo 24

-Hey! It's Manticore! Isn't it? That'd be a hell of a crossover, eh? Crowley's running Manticore using DNA or whatnot from the Alphas for starters?
Photo 25

-'It's quiet. Too quiet.'/'It's easy. Too easy' Seriously gang, you better have planned that you are walking into a trap or I may be forced to disrespect your tactical brains a wee bit. Your final confirming clue should be that the place isn't coated in those angel-vision-only glowing blue Enochian "Angels Keep Out" sigils... Unless Crowley's working with a rebel angel... Ooo... It bears pondering.
Photo 26

-Well, something's alive in there. Looks kid of vampirish. That glass with the alarm mesh in it shouldn't be effective at holding him back though. Unless it's, like, wrought iron wire or silver or iridium or whatever this guy's particular weakness is.
Photo 27

-OH MY FREAKING GOD HI THERE CONTINUITY!!! It's the Djinn!girl from the season opener, isn't it? WOO! ALSO DID I MENTION YAY FOR CONTINUITY???
Photo 28

-Hellhounds, oh just peachy. And there go both the remaining redshirt demons. *prepares to hide*

-"I knew this was a trap."/"Whadaya want, a cupcake?" I do love Meg. She has so much fun with her evil.

-Ah hahahahaha! No running away, Meg! I love it! Considering she used a binding link before when she had Sam, this is far too appropriate. How and when did she get locked in? Maybe when Sam killed the third spare? He'd've had to be fast. Some kind of Castiel effect?
Photo 29

-Okay, so it's part of Crowley's Security system, it's still cool. Knowing a field-effect binding link might come in handy, another thing to watch for along with the iridium weaponry when you guys ransack the place on your way back out. And I'm capping Dean's face because the way pause stopped is making me giggle.
Photo 30

-Ah, the afore-spoilered-kiss. She's grabbing his angel blade, right? I mean the big shiny silver one. The uh... one that's not attached. I wonder if that's made of iridium too? Not that one the- Oh, just, never mind. *blushes again some more*
Photo 31

-...and Castiel is... stealing it back? Or this is a prime example of why you shouldn't let your angel watch porn.
Photo 32
Photo 33
Photo 34
Photo 35

Hee! Sam looks so traumatized.

-"I feel so... clean." Hahahahaha. *headshake*

-Yeah, she was stealing that! Not um... Yeah.
Photo 36

-Whatever happened to goofer dust? Not that salt isn't a great all purpose evil-stopping substance, but you'd think they'd've figured on Crowley having Hellhound guards and whipped up a sack or two.
Photo 37

-Ah, crap, there goes Castiel. I guess Angel-B-Gone sigils work with demon blood too.
Photo 38

-*gasp* SAMUEL YOU SON OF A BITCH! I knew you were sending hem into a trap! And why exactly is your blood BURNING ON THE WALL LIKE SAM'S DID BUT DEAN'S DOESN'T? IS GRANDPA DRINKING DEMON BLOOD SLURPEES TOO???
Photo 39

-"Rather enjoyed your indentured servitude." Not that he would have kept his end of the deal anyway. Yay for no longer being Crowley's monkeys! \o/
Photo 40

-SO! Potential assets, Meg, who isn't dead until I see her smoke cloud burn to nothing, Djinn!girl, Vampire!guy, and the slight possibility of second thoughts from Samuel but I'm really not holding my breath there. Also chance of Castiel popping back in, not likely though.

-'Asylum' hallway! Yay for Riverview Hospital, probably the most reused location in Vancouver, and also used for Manticore in Dark Angel, so I was right before! \o/
Photo 41

-Isn't that just the way? Fight through a massive pile of Hellhounds just to get clotheslined by some random bozo? No wait, it's not a random bozo, it's Christian Campbell. So, fight through the Hellhounds to get clotheslined by a specific bozo. Somehow, that doesn't make it better. XD
Photo 42

-"You talk about putting blood first, which is funny 'cause you sound just like my dad. The difference is he actually did." YEAH! YAY JOHN!! \o/

-"I'll tell you who I am." Had to hit pause because I just got massive shivers, and I don't know what's coming next, but it should be awesome.
Photo 43

-"Whatever gets you through the night." Dangerous!Dean and the vengeful growling. Yes indeed. Awesome.

-Ah, someone found Alastair's torture table I see. "Whatever makes you feel like a man." Oh Meg. Wonder why they left her necklace on? Is it something they can't touch?

-Yeah, in a world where characters can do things with nothing more than their own blood and a knowledge of esoteric doodling, the only way to completely disarm a person is to exsanguinate them.
Photo 44

-Yeah, getting left in an abattoir with two hungry... somebodies (maybe vampires?), generally doesn't bode well. That room is far from secure though, so it should be easy enough to escape form if he can beat them or talk them into becoming allies until they all escape. Heh. Like that's gonna happen.
Photo 45
Photo 46

-Ahahahahaha! Devil's Trap! Well played Sam! Demons should really have gotten into the habit of looking overhead by know, but they seem to mostly be morons, which is part of their charm. Also, these are minions, and since Crowley's now the big bad, he has to have acquired himself a few incompetent ones, even if they do look good in suits.
Photo 47

-...Sam just ripped a pipe off the wall. That's impressive and a bit worrisome. Looks like Dean thinks so too.
Photo 48
Photo 49

-"You know you're sticking that thing in all the wrong places." Critiquing your torturer. Usually not a good idea, but this is Meg. She's been seriously screwing the boys over since the start, she caused the deaths of Ellen and Jo, but I still like her as a villain. She's got chutzpah. Really evil chutzpah.
Photo 50

-"It's a host body." THANK YOU MEG FOR POINTING THIS OUT! Yeesh! It's like torturing someone by poking holes in their shirt. If they don't care about the shirt, torturing it won't get you anywhere! Poor shirt host body.

-YES!! Bye Christian Campbell! I don't know how much of your earlier attitude was demon and how much was you, but I can't say as I'm sad to see Dean shove a knife in your back. Hey... How desperate is Grandpa? Would he have offered up Christian for getting possessed? *shudders*
Photo 51

-So, we're down to Samuel and what's her face now, right? And what's her face had a crisis of morality after the big Crowley reveal, so she may yet be cool.

-"You should be ghoul scat by now." Ah they were ghouls. Sam's really good with that pipe, he should hang onto it. No, wait, it's a wrench this time. Is Sam playing live action Clue here? What's next, a candlestick?
Photo 52

-That one is spray paint. You can see the spray nimbus around the lines. *nods*
Photo 53

-"The best torturers never get their hands dirty." I think I might be able to handle Meg as a prickly ally, although she really has screwed them quite badly and killed their friends. Of course this means she's dying before credits roll, or sometime in the next few times she appears.
Photo 54

-"I said can't, I meant can't you mop-headed lumberjack." Surprised? Anyone? A few? I'm not. He's head of the Crossroads demons, and he might be taking over hell by default, but no one could get into Lucifer's cage before, (not without the rings and breaking a schwackload of seals) so why would he be able to when it wasn't possible previously.
Photo 55

-Ooo, so he snagged Sam's body out but couldn't get his soul out due to Big L and Big M. Hunh. Interesting. Also interesting, if they both have turned on Sam (Adam being safe, back in Heaven with his mom), Sam will have gotten Lucifer and Michael to work together. I mean, it sucks of course, but in the extremely grand scheme of things that's gotta be worth something.

-All this stuff being said about how bad off Sam's soul is and what it'll do to have it back and he still seems to want it. That's rather cool. Doubt it'll last though.

-"He's useless." Yep. Sucks to admit your only bargaining chip was counterfeit. Often ends in a splat.
Photo 56

-Have I mentioned lately that I really like Crowley too? As an evil bastard? Because I do.
Photo 57

-Seriously though guys, bad tactics. Better would be for Meg to do it by remote like she was doing a few seconds ago, or if death isn't possible that way (and since Sam did it to Alastair in Season 4, why wouldn't it be?), then use the remote torture to reduce him to the point he can't fight back and then step into the ring. Not sporting, but what the hell.

-Yay, it's a Castiel-ex-machina! Maybe! Either way, CAAAAAS!!! \o/
Photo 58

-"Haven't seen you all season." Ha. Hi fourth wall, how's that crack doing?

-"What's in the gift bag?"/"You are." *facepalm* Oh my god I can't believe I didn't see that coming. I was just thinking of the boys grabbing a bone or two, but of course Crowley's bones would still be around. It's not like he could destroy them himself!
Photo 59

-"I can't." FOOM! OH WOW! Yay Castiel with the snap decisions! Even though it'll kill Crowley. Although... is this going to leave Meg in charge of Hell? Checking... Checking... Nope, not bothered by that idea either. WOO!
Photo 60
Photo 61

Gee, Castiel's looking rough. Poor guy.

-Wow, I'm quite glad I had a pause button for that bit, I would have been nothing but a pile of flailing OMGWTF right now. ... darn!

-I'm gonna miss Crowley. Hope he shows up in hallucinations or flashbacks. You know, technically this will be the third ruler of Hell the Winchesters have had a hand in assisting in attaining that position, even though they weren't trying to be Kingmakers? Lucifer, then Crowley, and now Meg or really, anyone who takes over now will owe it to the Winchesters.

-*unpauses*

-Aw. Things aren't going well for Castiel and even on the rare occasion where one of the boys offers to help, they can't. Oh Castiel. :-/ Obviously he needs the help of Ash and the Heavenly Roadhouse crew. *nods*
Photo 62

-Dude. Did Sam just call in a freaking smite? O.o

-"When angels and demons agree on something, call me nuts, I pay attention." Very true. But... Hm. Bears pondering. *ponders*

-Yep. Off goes Sam to become a consulting detective, no longer wanting his soul back. Can't say as I blame him, no one has given him any positive side to this soul business yet. Seriously though, all the 'Sam's soul is so screwed by now it'll kill him or drive him nuts to stuff it back in' business? If I was Dean I would be ten thousand percent more insistent on getting Sam's soul back. If not to stick it back into Sam, then just to get it out of the Cage and let whatever's left of it have some peace.
Photo 63

-Also, Dean honey, if Cas has a smite inbound, you might want to move the Impala. Just a thought. Since Castiel smiting the place is sightly more palatable than Sam just having sent him off to do their wetwork and has a greater chance for Djinn!girl to escape, since I got the impression from her little bits in this episode that there may be more yet to come from her. Regardless, poor Castiel.

So, one more before winter hiatus is it? Can anyone confirm the airdates whithout the titles? I'm anticipating an exceptionally nasty cliffhanger right before the hiatus. Just a hunch.

Cool, thanks.

The idea that Meg is now Queen of Hell is making me so happy! I love her & her happy, snarky evilness.

Crowley's death was pretty awesome, too. He was a great villain and I'll miss him, but it was a good way to go.

And I love the ending: Dean has every reason, as you say, to want Sam's soul back: Sam has every reason not too. But the conflict is clear, they're being open and honest with each other, and neither of them are being randomly stupid for plot reasons. The conflict feels very natural and unforced.

There is one more episode next Friday, and then hiatus.

Crowley got a decent death out of it, and I very much look forward to the plotting of Meg.

The conflict feels very natural and unforced.

Yes. Despite the esoteric subject, the conflict itself is very understandable and natural.

There is one more episode next Friday, and then hiatus.

Good to know, thank you!

So much WORD. Leaving it in the Cage to be tormented by the Father of demons for all eternity? Unthinkable.

I really do like this incarnation of Meg. Hope we get to keep her for the occasional visit. I think at this point she is the longest-standing relatively female character on the Show. Unless Mary really does get brought back somehow, in which case that would be about even honors, but still. :)

I have a bad feeling about getting a hiatus cliffhanger too. Meep!

Leaving it in the Cage to be tormented by the Father of demons for all eternity? Unthinkable.

Indeed. Michael's probably no slouch at torment either. I really hope they're keeping each other occupied for at least half the time and laying off Sam. They've got a lot of methods on the wall for getting Sam free just in this season, let alone stuff and entities available from prior seasons.

I really do like this incarnation of Meg.

I think I like Meg because she's very much her own character with her own independent goals and motivations that involve the other characters (mostly getting in her way), but her character's identity isn't defined by who she is in relation to the other characters. Something like that.

I have a bad feeling about getting a hiatus cliffhanger too. Meep!

It would be a sort of tradition. If not a cliffhanger, then a serious soul-rending. Or both. Both is frighteningly not out of the realm of possibility. O.o

THIS THIS THIS X 1000. That was my big point in my not coherent commentary this week. But Show has been somewhat unclear on what a Soul is and what a Person is. We wanted DEAN out of Hell because he was being tortured, why don't we want SAM out of Hell? Just because his body is, doesn't mean HE is.

I don't think they've confirmed when we're coming back in January yet. *sniffle*

Hah! I never even noticed the outside of the prison being Manticore (too busy thinking about Asylum and the X-Files movie and all the other SN eps it's been in!) but when they got down to the basement with all the freaks locked up? All I could think was, "Where's Joshua? We're in with the Nomalies!!" And of course had Crowley been in charge of Manticore, it would have explained where they got the DNA to build Ben and Alec! (There's crossover fic in there somewhere...)

So if demons go to Purgatory when they "die" does that mean, potentially, we might seen Crowley hooking up with Alastair, Ruby and *gasp* Azazel at some point in the future? Oh I do hope so. And I'm sure Mrs. Padalecki needs the work. (Snigger.)

The whole "Sam's soul will be so traumatised by Lucifer and Michael picking on him for a whole year" really doesn't ring true to me. Their problem is with each other, not with Sam. They've probably not even noticed he's there! (Didn't you write fic about that??) And why would Michael, God's general, want to pick on Sam anyway? Yeah, he was a dick, but he wasn't an evil dick. Lucifer, yes, I can see him having a go at Sam. But Michael? Why?

And if Sam does come back rabid and insane to please the fangirls? I'll be really disappointed in the writers ripping off Buffy (again). Angel anyone?
caffienekitty From: caffienekitty Date: December 6th, 2010 04:49 am (UTC) (Link)
I don't think they've confirmed when we're coming back in January yet. *sniffle*

I believe someone lower down said Jan 28?

So if demons go to Purgatory when they "die"

I think it's just mortal 'monster' species that do. Demons are in essence really messed up and tormented ghosts, so they're already dead.

I'll be really disappointed in the writers ripping off Buffy (again).

Frankly I'd be a heck of a lot more disappointed if he came back fine and dandy, whether L and M were at him or not. Something like that needs to have a consequence and a healing process, or it's just a trip to the corner store for gum. Since it's trauma psychology, it doesn't matter how many shows use it, it doesn't invalidate the process the human mind goes through when traumatized. It's been done many times before Buffy and will be done many times after. :-)

However, since Sam's mind seems to be topside and his soul is down below, it's hard to say whether basic psychology will apply or not. We'll have to wait and see.

Other people have commented on this episode that it's an hour of their life they'll never get back, or that they miss SPN being their happy place. But Sherlock!Sam is my new happy place. I love it!

I wonder if reactions to Souless!Sam depend on whether or not the viewer is also a Sherlock fan?

I knew Grandpa was dodgy and I suspected it was because of Mary.

I'm going to miss Crowley. First Gabriel and now Crowley - they're seriously killing off my favourite guest stars.

Okay, so we know where things are going. Dean wants Sam's soul back, Castiel is ambivalent, Sam definitely doesn't. Grandpa's evil and needs to be stopped. Crowley's gone, so Dean needs to find some other way of getting Sam's soul back from the Cage. Cool, I'm looking forward to this.

Other people have commented on this episode that it's an hour of their life they'll never get back, or that they miss SPN being their happy place.

I'm rather glad I'm not as fully integrated in the larger SPN fandom, because I really don't understand the attitudes I hear about. Character conflict is a major component of drama. If they were always happy and cooperative it'd be Teletubbies.

I wonder if reactions to Souless!Sam depend on whether or not the viewer is also a Sherlock fan?

There seems to be a bit of correlation, yeah, but I don't think it's the only indicator.

Cool, I'm looking forward to this.

Me too. :-)

Funny how that happens whenever Dean gets all intense and growly, hm?

It's like the heavy artillery. Phone in coordinates and be somewhere else. ;-)

I'm going to have to screen your comment. You've mentioned the previews and in this LJ, Promo material is considered spoilery. Repasting and responding to non-spoilery bits below:

-Also, Dean honey, if Cas has a smite inbound, you might want to move the Impala.

*dies laughing*

Thanks for this, lady! You hit all the high points, and then some. Plus your screen caps rocked! :)

Thanks for reading, glad you liked it!

[spoiler redacted]

But I'm still along for the ride. I just hope they don't drag out soulless!Sam for 21 of 22 episodes. This episode wrapped pretty much every plot thread this season had going - new and unique! - so I hope they turn us in a positive and hopeful direction before holiday hiatus.

One can always hope. However, I am expecting an evil cliffhanger or a heart-stomping session or both, given Show's track record. XD

Thanks for the marvelous episode review! *hugs you randomly* :)

Glad you enjoyed! :-)

Oh, noes, I'm sorry! I tried to be deliberately vague re: spoilers, but I forgot to glance over and remember your No Spoiler policy here. My apologies!

Bad hobbit, no cookie. :)

You know, technically this will be the third ruler of Hell the Winchesters have had a hand in assisting in attaining that position, even though they weren't trying to be Kingmakers? Lucifer, then Crowley, and now Meg or really, anyone who takes over now will owe it to the Winchesters.

Technically this will be number 4. When Dean killed Azazel, he opened up the seat. When he broke in Hell, he let Lilith free and she took over. Then Team Free Will ends up making Castiel sheriff in Heaven. The Winchesters, Kingmakers of both Heaven and Hell!

As for schedule, Dec. 10 is the last SPN before hiatus and it looks like we come back Jan. 28. It's going to be a LONG six weeks.

I don't really think of either Azazel or Lillith as having ruled Hell, more like they were doing their parts in the plot to raise Lucifer, and Hell was a bit of a compartmentalized mish-mash of bickering factions with regards to leadership. Lucifer ruled the whole thing once he rose, though he didn't do a lot with it, then Crowley, now Meg if she can consolidate her powerbase fast enough. Heaven was I think more of a bureaucracy under Zachariah and pals, so they did disrupt that power structure enough to leave a vacuum. Castiel doesn't seem to be having any luck with the Sheriffing, and Raphael might take over.

Regardless, the Winchesters do indeed have a great deal of effect over the whole situation, whether they intend to or not.

Dec. 10 is the last SPN before hiatus and it looks like we come back Jan. 28.

Fantastic, thank you! :-)

Effective restraints consultant. Too funny. I was thinking, Dean, why don't you lift up and slide the ropes off that chair? Ha!

They've used the same 'three ropes across the chest' thing in a few episodes now. It's kind of cute.
