NEWS: RIP Terry Pratchett
Terry Pratchett (author of the Discworld series, among other things) has died.

“No one is finally dead until the ripples they cause in the world die away — until the clock he wound up winds down, until the wine she made has finished its ferment, until the crop they planted is harvested. The span of someone’s life, they say, is only the core of their actual existence.”

- Reaper Man, Terry Pratchett

No, not your fault at all. I found out Thursday (Wombat), I just meant I can't process.

I haven't had much luck processing either. I found out on my newsfeed and was pretty much weeping uncontrollably for a bit.

I understand. I found out at work so that wasn't an option. I did swear incoherently and sputter, that was it. Not parsing much since Thursday due to the migraine (finally gone today).

*Hugs*

I never read these books, but so many of my friends are sad right now. They must have been very good books to touch so many. *hugs*

The Discworld books are the sort where you either really really like them or you don't. They started as a parody of the fantasy genre, but since moved into subtly written socio-political satire and comedy with a splash of the absurd in a well-developed fantasy world that happens to be balanced on the back of four elephants standing on a giant space-going turtle. Great wordsmithing and world-building, moments of epic wow, very British humour.

The early books can be a little less gripping than others, but each book stands alone and there are several character sets that interact and are focused on to varying degrees.
